This year, from May 8-18 SpringWorks is hosting over 100 artists from 34 different companies putting on over 50 productions, workshops, and art shows in Stratford and Perth County. With so many shows to choose from, where does one begin?
FIRST OF ALL, WHAT IS SPRINGWORKS?
SpringWorks is a juried festival – artists submit their script and support materials, which are then passed on to a Selection Committee who make the final decision about what productions will happen at SpringWorks – we offer tons of great stuff to the performers and audiences!
- Visiting productions have complete artistic freedom.
- SpringWorks’ venues are fully accessible.
- SpringWorks’ offers exciting, dynamic, and new work that is only available to Stratford and Perth Country.
SOUNDS FUN! HOW DO I PLAN MY SPRINGWORKS’ EXPERIENCE?
STEP ONE: CHOOSE YOUR SHOWS
The SpringWorks Festival Program Guide is your primary resource for show descriptions and the master schedule. Get a hardcopy in various locations around Stratford (Revel Caffè, Let Them Eat Cake, Library, and many other places) or check it out online.
Word of mouth is a great way to hear about what shows are the ones not to miss! Talk to people in line, in the audience, even around town and find out what the must-sees are. The wonder of independent theatre is that you never know what you’re going to see, so make the most of your SpringWorks experience and see as much as you can! Follow your curiosity, try out something exotic and bold, see something you normally wouldn’t go to. SpringWorks is all about excitement and pushing the envelope!
STEP TWO: GET YOUR TICKETS
Tickets are available online or by telephone: 1-800-518-2819 ext. 3 OR at the SpringWorks Box Office May 8-18, located at each of our below venues on performance days.
If you can’ t decide on what you want to see or you want to see EVERYTHING, we have options for that! The SpringWorks Flex Pass is a $45 3-show pass, so you can decide in the moment what you’d like to see. This year, we have introduced a Child’s Flex Pass for $25 and a Family Pass (2 adults, 2 children OR 1 adult, 3 children) available for every performance. SpringWorks also has a Full Festival Pass, for admittance to any performance at SpringWorks.
Tickets are also available at the SpringWorks Box Offices May 8-18, located at all our main stage venues, listed below.
STEP THREE: KNOW YOUR VENUES
SpringWorks is still growing and this year we’ve expanded to include 6 performance venues, so it’s important to know what shows are where.
FALSTAFF FAMILY CENTRE – 35 Waterloo Street N
FACTORY163-163 King Street
THE CHURCH RESTAURANT-70 Brunswick Street
PERTH COUNTY WELCOME CENTRE – 2146 Line 34, Shakespeare
REVEL CAFFE – 37 Market Place
ST. JOHN’S UNITED CHURCH – 175 Waterloo Street S
STEP FOUR: KNOW YOUR TIMES
Due to the tightly packed nature of our schedule and the intimacy of our venues, SpringWorks does not allow late comers into the shows, even if you’ve already bought a ticket, so it’s important to know what shows are when. As all SpringWorks venues are general admission, we recommend showing up at least 15 minutes before the show starts to get that perfect seat.
STEP FIVE: ENJOY YOURSELF!
SpringWorks has many goals – to give performers at all stages of their careers a place to create, to offer audiences a dynamic and interesting experience, to draw local youth into the world of theatre and art, just to name a few -but our main goal is for everyone involved to HAVE FUN! Onstage, backstage, or in the audience, we want you to enjoy yourself, whether it’s taking a night out with girlfriends to see XOXO: The Relationship Show or having a beer while watching one of our many late-night cabarets or enjoying a special Mother’s Day with your mother at A Celebration of Women or having a great time with your kids at our Puppet Festival, SpringWorks is all about having a great time.
STEP SIX: SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION
It’s hard work putting together an entire indie theatre festival and it’s also hard work putting together a single show. Of course we want to hear how much you’ve enjoyed yourself through your applause after each show, but there are lots of ways to show us what your SpringWorks experience meant to you.
- Facebook or Twitter or SpringWorks’ Blog: let us know what you saw and how you enjoyed it!
- Kick it old school and tell us in person!
- Get yourself a SpringWorks t-shirt or button as a shout-out to the world that SpringWorks is where it’s at!
- If you feel the need to go the extra mile, SpringWorks is always in need of support. Check out our website for ways to get involved!
SO WHERE DO I FIND THE VISUAL ART?

- Gallery Stratford
- University of Waterloo Stratford Campus Brush With Art (FREE admission)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I or a member of my party need wheelchair access. Are your venues accessible?
Yes, they are! When you book your tickets, let us know about accessibility needs and one of our volunteers will be there to help you out when you arrive.
I or a member of my party have hearing disabilities. Do you have assistive hearing devices?
No, we are not equipped with assistive hearing devices, but if you let us know when you book your tickets, we will reserve your seats near the stage.
I bought tickets but I can’t make it to the show. Can I get a refund?
SpringWorks has a no refunds policy, but if you get in touch with our Box Office before the show you purchased tickets for, we will happily exchange them for another performance.
I’ve lost my tickets and/or my confirmation. What do I do?
Simply come to the Box Office and we will have a record of all advance sales.
Can I take photos or record the show?
No. Recording and/or photographic devices are not to be used during a performance without the permission of the event organiser and venue management by prior arrangement. If you breach these conditions, your equipment may be confiscated and you’ll be asked to leave.
I ordered tickets and entered my payments details, but I didn’t get a confirmation. How do I know if I’ve been charged or my tickets have been booked?
Send us an e-mail (email@SpringWorksFestival.ca) right away with your full name and we’ll let you know if you booked your tickets. Please don’t attempt another purchase, as it may result in a double charge on your credit card.
I tried to buy tickets for a show, but I couldn’t select the date I wanted. What’s wrong?
If the ticket site won’t let you select seats for a particular show, that means the show is sold out. But don’t worry, there are lots of other great shows for you to see!
Why do you ask for so much information when I’m just buying a ticket?
The more information you provide us with, the better we can find you in case there’s a change to your event or you have an inquiry about your order and need to contact us. If you don’t want to provide us with your information, you can always pay in cash on the day of the performance at the venue, subject to availability. SpringWorks will never release or sell your information to any third party.
